    STUDENTS WANTED!

Even though I was sent the „Danksagung“ a day before the event, I happily crossed the Adlershof Campus to hold a Talk in front of a lecture hall partially full of students at the HU. It wasn’t a compulsory event but I was happy with the turn out. As a substitute from Prof. Matveenko I was given the responsibility of advertising the work of our Investigators Group in the hope to lure potential …

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in Korea

It was intentional that I was given poster number 007 at this year’s IPAC (International Particle Accelerator Conference) in Busan, Korea. Other secret codes I needed to remember were “Ocean White” and “Wednesday”. The voyage therein was long, not even an Oscar winning fight with a Bear could make me relax. From Seoul I took the TVG lookalike to Busan on the south coast. In Japan it is called the …

Open Heart Surgery at BESSY II

Two things in 2018 are for sure; I need a new passport and BESSY II will be 20 years old. For the first I have no idea what to do. For the latter I have a present in mind. Now I am a "Doctor" I could give BESSY II its first heart operation! BESSY's heart is of course the Booster, it gives the electrons their energy, the Users their nano-metre light and BESSY its heart-beat. Nobody has tried it …

Hey Terry, I am really excited to read this and I am curious about what is still to come. What are you doing, will you compress the bunches, will you slice them, what the heck are you able to do to make a long bunch short? Tell me if you want me to queue for you:-)

What a nice description of the BESSY-VSR story and the forthcoming work. I am really excited for Terrys posts.
