Egg, spoon, vacuum

Custom-made gripper

Part of the problem of the in-situ transfer from one machine (and location) to another is that the sample holders are not compatible. So the sample has to be transferred from one to the other – under vacuum – and (of course) there are no standard tools for that. Instead, Karsten Prietzel had to design a whole new set of grippers that fits precisely around the sample and can be handled with the existing transfer rods.
