Hitting the moon

Less than 10 µm deviation over a distance of 65m - that's as if a football player shoots from earth to the moon - and hits the goal. That is also the challenge for the team that is currently setting up the new beamline for EMIL.

The light is directed by almost 20 mirrors and gratings along the beamline. They are all different and they all have to work together with absolute precision.

Welcome to the mirror zoo.
